

GUWAHATI: The Special Task Force of the Assam police conducted a raid at Balughat under the jurisdiction of Basistha Police Station in a major crackdown against illegal narcotics trafficking.
Acting on reliable inputs, the STF conducted the raid on the late hours of 7 December and it led to the apprehension of a notorious drug peddler identified as 34-year-old Dipak Brahma, hailing from Chapaguri village in Assam's Bongaigaon district.
27 vials containing suspected heroin weighing 36.05 grams was recovered from his possession along with a mobile phone, a scooty bearing registration number AS 01 FH 5928 and cash worth Rs. 240.
Upon interrogation, the detained person revealed the whereabouts of another two suspected drug peddler. Swift action ensued as the STF conducted a search operation and nabbed Barot Patir and Mentaram Taye, who were tenants residing at House no 58, Garokuchi Path, Beltola Bazar in Guwahati.
The cops confiscated 102 vials containing suspected heroin weighing 138 grams and two mobiles phones from their possession.
