GUWAHATI: To ensure a spiritually fulfilling and well-organized celebration of Ambubachi Mahayog 2025, Assam’s Tourism Minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass chaired an important coordination meeting on Monday with representatives of various voluntary organizations and government departments. The meeting was held at the conference hall of the Kamrup Metropolitan District Commissioner’s office.
In attendance were representatives from several voluntary groups operating within a 5-kilometre radius of the Kamakhya Temple, who will be actively involved in assisting devotees and maintaining discipline throughout the festival. Addressing the gathering, Minister Dass urged all volunteer organizations to extend full cooperation to make this significant spiritual event smooth and well-coordinated. Highlighting the importance of hospitality, the Minister appealed to the volunteers to extend a warm welcome to the thousands of pilgrims and tourists who will visit Assam during the event. “Let every visitor return with a message of Assam’s warmth and hospitality,” he said.
He further called for the deployment of volunteers at key locations such as Pandu Ghat and Kamakhya Railway Station to assist and greet incoming devotees. Volunteers manning community kitchens (bhandaras), water supply points, and other essential service areas were also requested to ensure that pilgrims are well-received and cared for.
Minister Dass advised the volunteer groups to identify zones based on convenience and take charge of specific areas, ensuring a decentralized yet effective approach to crowd management and service delivery.
