Guwahati: In a landmark move to honour Assam’s warrior Lachit Borphukan, the Rajasthan Foundation (Assam & Northeast Chapter) has proposed the installation of his statues in two major cities of Rajasthan — Jaipur and Kota. The initiative aims to celebrate and spread the valorous legacy of Borphukan beyond Assam, promoting a sense of unity, respect, and shared national heritage.
The proposed locations — Jaipur, the cultural and administrative heart of Rajasthan, and Kota, a premier educational hub for youth across the country — have been strategically chosen to maximize the historical and inspirational impact of the statues.
The initiative is envisioned as a collaborative effort by the Assamese community residing in Rajasthan and will also seek support from the Assam Government. According to the Foundation, the project will be a reflection of Assam’s devotion and a tribute to India’s collective pride in its unsung heroes.
Adding momentum to the proposal, Rajasthan’s Education Minister Madan Dilawar has extended his full support. Known for his decisive leadership, Dilawar has assured that the state government will stand by this cultural mission. He also acknowledged the importance of introducing Lachit Borphukan’s story in the school curriculum of Rajasthan and said that the state will soon send a formal proposal to the Centre regarding the same.
“This is not just about erecting statues or making textbook additions. It is about igniting the spirit of patriotism and unity in the hearts of India’s youth through shared stories of courage,” said Ratan Sharma, along with the Executive Committee of the Rajasthan Foundation’s Assam & Northeast Chapter.
