GUWAHATI: Assam's Shahil Dey, the 14-year-old boy has become Northeast's first chess International Master. He was granted his first International Master standard at the GM Round Robin Tournament held in Serbia. As per the reports, he has been making waves in the Chess group and is currently coached by International Master Roktim Bandyopadhyay in Kolkata.

The 14-year-old chess ace has addressed India at different competitions. In acknowledgment of his accomplishments in chess, he has likewise been awarded ' National Child Award.' He additionally scored 5 points from 8 rounds of the event.

Mentionably, that the former Under-7 and Under-9 National champion's overall performance rating currently remains at 2473. He began to participate in competitions at the age of five in Guwahati.
