GUWAHATI: The Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB) has opened online registration for Class IX students for the academic year 2026-27, with the process running from April 1 to May 15, 2026.

All High and Higher Secondary Schools affiliated with the board have been directed to complete registrations through the official portal at sebaonline.org within the stipulated deadline.

The board has made submission of the 11-digit UDISE code mandatory for all participating schools. Institutions that have not updated their UDISE code on the portal will be barred from registering their students — making it a critical first step for school administrators.

Schools have also been instructed to collect the following details from students before proceeding with registration: personal information, Aadhaar number, APAAR ID, birth certificate, passport-size photograph, and signature.

The registration fee has been fixed at Rs 300 per student. A concessional fee of Rs 150 applies for students with disabilities (PwD), in line with the board's inclusive policy.

Payment can be completed either through SBI's online payment mode or via challan, as per the board's specified process.

The board has outlined a clear online workflow for schools to follow — beginning with school login, followed by updating institutional details, adding individual student data, and completing the payment step.

All student details entered during registration must match official documents exactly, particularly the birth certificate and APAAR records. The board has also specified that students must be at least 13 years of age as of April 1, 2026, to be eligible for registration.

ASSEB has called on all schools to adhere strictly to the guidelines and meet the May 15 deadline without fail, stressing that timely and accurate completion of the process is essential for smooth academic year operations.

Schools yet to update their portal details are advised to do so at the earliest to avoid last-minute disruptions to student registrations.
