Guwahati:  Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB) Division I (earlier SEBA) has released an official notification regarding the conduct of the Compartmental Examination for HSLC 2025. This exam will offer a second chance to students who failed in a maximum of three subjects but managed to secure at least 170 marks in aggregate. These candidates will be eligible to appear for the compartmental examination in a single chance.

To clear the compartmental exam, students must secure a minimum of 30% marks in each failed subject, and the total marks must reach at least 180. Those who pass will be allowed to take admission into higher classes within the same academic year. However, candidates who are unable to pass the compartmental examination must take re-admission in their respective schools and appear as regular candidates if they wish to continue. The notification contains key guidelines that should be followed.

According to the guidelines a detailed schedule for the online application process through schools will be notified three days after the declaration of the HSLC 2025 results. Students will have to pay an examination fee of Rs 500 per subject through SBI online or challan mode, along with an additional Rs 150 as centre fee.

It guidelines further says that compartmental examination will be held only for theory papers. Marks obtained in practical exams and internal assessments will be carried forward. There will also be OMR answer sheets for objective-type questions in core subjects, and candidates must pass both the OMR and descriptive sections separately to be declared successful.

It also says that the schools will be able to select preferred exam centres for their students through the online portal. However, if the number of candidates in a centre is less than 50, it will be merged with the nearest centre. No centre fees will be collected directly from the candidates, as the Assam State Board will reimburse the expenditure to the respective centres.

Finally, students who pass the compartmental examination will be issued a fresh composite mark sheet-cum-certificate, incorporating both their previous and improved marks. A list of selected subjects for the examination will be made available on the official portal in due course.
