Axam Xahitya Xabha (AXX) Announces List of Candidates for 2020-22 Election

GUWAHATI: The Axam Xahitya Xabha (AXX) announced its list of the aspiring candidates for the post of president, vice president and chief secretary on Wednesday.

Addressing the media in a press conference here on Wednesday, AXX election officer Bijan Mahajan announced the names of selected candidates list. Mahajan said, “The names for selected candidates for the post of president includes Dr. Basanta Kumar Goswami, Suryakanta Hazarika, Pakhila Kalita, Kuladhar Saikia, Dr. Karabi Deka Hazarika , Prahlad Chandra Tasa and Dr. Jayshree Goswami Mahanta. There are four candidates for the post of vice president and the candidates will be Rati Mohan Nath, Mrinalini Devi, Padumi Gogoi and Dr. Basanta Kumar Sarma. The candidates for the post of chief secretary are Jadav Chandra Sarma, Harendra Kalita and Debajit Bora.”

Mahajan further added, “The election procedure will start from November 1 onwards at district and branch levels through postal vote. The voting process will be stopped on December 10 and the vote boxes will be closed at 4 PM on that day in the presence of election officers. The vote box will be kept under the surveillance of Panbazar Police Station. On December 15 the vote box will be taken to the seventh executive convention of Xahitya Xabha by 7 AM and the result will be declared at a convenient time.”
