Brahmaputra River flowing near danger mark in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: The water level of the Brahmaputra river is rising rapidly and is likely to reach the danger level soon, in Guwahati. The water level of the river was 46.72 metres at 5 pm in Guwahati on Tuesday, which rose to 48.36 metres at around 5 pm on Wednesday. Talking to The Sentinel, Sarat Chadra Kalita, an official of CWC (Central Water Commission) said that the water level is increasing fast. "While the level was 47.62 metres at 6 am on Wednesday, it rose to 48.10 metres at 1 pm and till the report was filed the level reached to 48.36 metres the same day. The danger level of the Brahmaputra river in Guwahati is 49.68 metres. It is now around 1 metre away to reach the danger level.
