Centre Alienates Northeast with CAB: All Moran Students’ Union

Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI: All Moran Students’ Union (AMSU) president Arunjyoti Moran has said that by introducing the CAB (Citizenship Amendment Bill) in the Parliament despite repeated protests from the Northeast, the Government at the Centre has revealed its mentality of strength, and made the people of the region to think that they are not treated as Indians.

Talking to this reporter, the student leader said, “Under no circumstances, we’re ready to accept the CAB. We want the implementation of the Assam Accord to the letter. We also demand that the six ethnic communities of the State should be accorded ST status. We warn the Centre of going for a rigorous democratic agitation in support of our demand.”

The student leader has also warned the Centre of dragging it to the court if it doesn’t accord ST status to the six ethnic communities.
