Guwahati: Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma has requested Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma to initiate a fair and impartial investigation into the mysterious death of 26-year-old Namrata Bora, who tragically died in a car accident near Nongpoh in the early hours of June 4.

Responding to the appeal, Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma has assured cooperation and has approved an investigation to be carried out under the supervision of high-ranking police officials. CM Sarma while speaking to media said that Guwahati police will do preliminary investigation and also urged the guardian, parents and also the public to learn from every incident like this and be more cautious and careful.

Namrata’s friend had earlier claimed it was a road accident, but the circumstances have raised serious doubts. In this regard, Nongpoh Police have registered case number 65/25 and launched an investigation. So far, 20 CCTV footage clips from the area have been collected and examined.

Meanwhile, Namrata’s father has filed an FIR at Dispur Police Station, suspecting foul play in his daughter’s death. Dispur Police is expected to formally begin its own investigation soon. Sources have confirmed that all evidence collected by the Dispur police, including statements and digital proof, will be submitted to Nongpoh Police to aid the ongoing investigation.
