Coronavirus: Guwahati faces a shortage of N95 masks

STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI: The reports of coronavirus cases are being reported from many parts of India and people are rushing to medical stores to get their hands on N95 masks and sanitizers. But they have been hamstrung by their massive shortage and some pharmacies are allegedly charging as high as Rs. 500 for an N95 mask. The price of these masks ranges from Rs. 100 to 150. “I went to various pharmacies to buy an N95 mask and finally got it for Rs. 400. The rich people can afford it but what about the poor ones?” said a citizen.

Talking to The Sentinel, a chemist said, “Normally sanitizers don’t sell but now the demand has increased suddenly and there is a shortage of supply”. It is to be mentioned that the chemists are selling these masks at high prices without cash memos.
