Devasish Sharma Appointed as Commissioner of Guwahati Municipal Corporation

GUWAHATI: Devasish Sharma has been appointed as the Commissioner of Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC).

Meanwhile, the current GMC commissioner, Devajyoti Hazarika will report to the Personnel Department.

Devasish Sharma, an Assam Civil Service (ACS) officer is also the Joint Resident Commissioner, Assam Bhawan, Mumbai. Sharma will keep the charge additionally along with the new role as the GMC Commissioner.

He was earlier serving as the Additional Commissioner to the Government of Assam, General Administrative Department.

Further, Bhupesh Ch. Das, ACS, District Development Commissioner, Cachar is transferred and posted as Deputy Commissioner, Sonitpur.

On the other hand, Pabitra Ram Khound, ACS, Secretary to the Govt of Assam, Industries & Commerce Department and Commissioner, Industries & Commerce, Assam is transferred and posted as Director, Sports & Youth Welfare, Assam.

Dharma Kanta Mili, ACS, Director, Sports & Youth Welfare, Assam is transferred and posted as Director, Higher Education, Assam.

Earlier on May 19, the Personnel (Administration) Department of the Assam Government carried out another round of major reshuffle of IAS officers of the state.

Syedain Abbasi, lAS, Additional Chief Secretary to the Govt. of Assam, Public Health Engineering, Water Resources, Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Departments is relieved from the additional charge of Additional Chief Secretary to the Govt. of Assam, Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department.

Further, Manish Thakur, lAS Commissioner & Secretary to the Govt. of Assam, Urban Development, Guwahati Development, Finance, Science & Technology and Information Technology Departments is substantively posted as Commissioner & Secretary to the Govt. of Assam, Finance Department.

Manish Thakur has been relieved from the additional charge of Commissioner & Secretary to the Govt. of Assam, Urban Development, Guwahati Development, Science & Technology and Information Technology Departments.
