Dispur and Basistha Police recover stolen two-wheelers, bust theft racket

Guwahati: The Dispur Police and Basistha Police have recovered multiple stolen two-wheelers in two separate operations carried out across the city. Dispur Police made the recovery after apprehending Bhabesh Singh (40), a resident of Rajbari, under Paltan Bazar Police Station. Acting on leads, police recovered two Royal Enfield motorcycles from his possession. The stolen vehicles include a Royal Enfield Hunter 350, reported missing from the Basistha area, and a Royal Enfield Classic 350, stolen from the Paltan Bazar locality. In a parallel development, a team from Basistha Police Station busted a two-wheeler theft racket operating in the Lokhra area. The accused, identified as Juman Shrivastava (19) of Gorchuk, was arrested. During the operation, police recovered two scooters— a modified Honda Activa (AS01 BT 1267) stolen from Hatigaon in December 2024, and a Yamaha Ray-ZR (AS01 BH 5678) stolen from Basistha in May 2024. Legal action has been initiated in both cases.
