Driver Escapes After Car Plunges 20 Feet into Pond on Narengi-Chandrapur Highway

A car plunged into a deep pond along the Narengi-Chandrapur highway at Hajongbari in Chandrapur around 1.30 am on Sunday, with the driver narrowly escaping.

GUWAHATI: A car plunged into a deep pond along the Narengi-Chandrapur highway at Hajongbari in Chandrapur around 1.30 am on Sunday, with the driver narrowly escaping. The four-wheeler, bearing registration number AS01FE 8810, was travelling from Morigaon towards Guwahati when the driver reportedly lost control. The vehicle veered off the highway and fell into a pond that was around 20 feet deep. Local residents rushed to the spot and helped the driver escape from the submerged vehicle. Pragjyotishpur Police, assisted by SDRF personnel and local residents, subsequently launched an operation to retrieve the vehicle. The four-wheeler was eventually pulled out from the pond, from around 20 feet below the water surface.
