
GUWAHATI: A comprehensive briefing session on the initiatives of the Higher Education Department of Assam was held at Raj Bhavan on Friday, where Education Minister Dr. Ranoj Pegu briefed Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya on the department's ongoing projects, policies, and future roadmap. The Governor, on being briefed on the higher education department, expressed his satisfaction with the activities of the department and its roadmap for making Assam a sought-after place for higher education. He also said that considering the pivotal role of education in shaping the society towards excellence, he asked the department to strengthen the ecosystem so that the state can be transformed into a hub of higher education. He also said that in view of the state's development in various sectors, a corresponding development in higher education can be a catalyst to the state's human resource development.
The Governor further remarked that the National Education Policy 2020 is a groundbreaking initiative by the Government of India, designed to revolutionize the education landscape. He, therefore, asked the Higher Education Department to foresee that the policy is implemented in letter and spirit across the state. He, in this context, called for concerted efforts from all stakeholders, encouraging innovation and strategic planning to achieve excellence in every aspect of higher education.
Governor Acharya also asked the Higher Education Department to introduce forward-thinking strategies and innovative solutions to propel the education sector of the state to a greater height. He reiterated that a collective commitment to quality education and policy implementation would significantly contribute to the state's overall development and intellectual prosperity, stated a press release.
