GUWAHATI: Gauhati University Inter-College Youth Festival, 2021-22, kicked off at GU Campus today. The festival will continue until 31st October 2022.

Prof Pratap Jyoti Handique, VC, GU inaugurated the festival by hoisting the Gauhati University flag followed by the hoisting of the GU Sports Board flag by Dr Ranjan Kr Kakati, Director, Students' Welfare, GU and hoisting off the PGSU, GU flag by Hemen Kalita, President, PGSU, GU.

Inaugurating the festival, Prof Handique said that the youth festivals help in showcasing the hidden talents of the students and give them a platform to progress in their respective fields. Dr HK Nath, Registrar, GU, along with the dignitaries and participants offered floral tributes in the Swahid Bedi.

Prof Dipak Sarma, former Vice-Chancellor of Kumar Bhaskar Varma Sanskrit and Ancient Studies University inaugurated the cultural rally. In his speech, Prof Sarma said that Youth Festival cultural rally showcases all the cultural traditions of Assam which reflects a mini Assam. Competitions in cultural, fine arts and music events are currently undergoing. About 800 students of 60 GU-affiliated colleges which were selected in the zonal youth festival held in four different zones earlier are participating in the festival, a press release said.
