The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has extended the deadline for property tax payments to April 2, 2026, giving residents additional time to clear their dues without penalty.

The decision was announced through an official order issued on March 31 and came into effect immediately.

GMC cited two reasons for the extension — bank holidays observed on March 28 and 29, and server-related technical issues that caused inconvenience to taxpayers attempting to make payments during that period.

The revised deadline is intended to provide relief to property owners who were unable to complete their payments due to these disruptions.

The corporation has asked all concerned officials to take necessary steps to ensure smooth and seamless tax payments during the extended period.

GMC has also directed officials to give wide publicity to the order so that property owners across Guwahati are informed of the new deadline in time.
