Guwahati: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has imposed a penalty of Rs 15,000 on a resident of J.P. Agarwala Road in Ward No. 14 for releasing drain water directly onto the public road.

According to GMC officials, such practices not only inconvenience the public but also damage road infrastructure and create unhygienic conditions. The civic body has urged residents to strictly follow proper drainage and waste disposal methods to help maintain cleanliness and safety in the city.

The GMC has further warned that similar violations will attract strict penalties in the future.
