GUWAHATI: Along with the rest of the state, the All Guwahati Students' Union (AGSU), Guwahati Unnati Sabha, and the Guwahati committee of the Asom Sena took out a rally to bring about awareness against drugs in Guwahati today.
The rally taken out from Swahid Bhawan at Uzan Bazar was participated in by the students of various colleges, universities, women's organisations, senior citizens, and others. With the police stopping the participants, the rally had to be completed at the entrance of Latasil Playground with a meeting.
Speaking to the gathering, AASU's chief adviser Samujjal Bhattacharjya and president Utpal Sarma said that the use of drugs has been pushing the new generation towards a doomed future. They said that the government should provide exemplary punishment to the people at the source of drugs and people supplying drugs in the state. They appealed to the government to help create a healthy social atmosphere in the state by eradicating the drug menace.
