GOLAGHAT: In a major crackdown on the drug trade, following a tip-off, Golaghat Police carried out an anti-drug operation under Naojan OP and seized 105.73 grams of heroin. In the process, the police arrested one woman and two men involved in drug dealing. They also seized two vehicles and six mobile phones, which were likely used for trafficking the drugs.

The police have initiated legal action against the accused individuals, and further investigations are underway to uncover the full extent of the operation. Authorities have commended the timely intervention of the public and vowed to continue their efforts in combating the growing drug menace in the region.

Meanwhile, earlier this month, in a significant operation, the team of Golaghat Police had conducted an anti-drug operation under Golaghat PS, leading to the seizure of 18.56 grams of heroin. The operation also led to the arrest of 2 male and 1 female drug peddlers.

Golaghat police had conducted their second major drug disposal operation in three weeks, destroying seized narcotics valued over Rs 12 lakh at Golaghat police reserve earlier on January 18.

Golaghat SP Rajen Singh, who had led the disposal procedure alongside other senior police officials, had overseen the incineration of heroin and cannabis seized during various operations across the district between Jan 1 and Jan 17.
