GUWAHATI: The All-India Bank Officers’ Confederation (AIBOC) observed International Workers’ Day with spirited celebrations held at the State Bank Officers’ Association (SBIOA) office, Bhangagarh, at 8 AM on May 1, 2025.

The event commenced with a flag hoisting ceremony, symbolising the enduring unity and strength of the working class. Comrade Suraj Nath led the programme with exceptional anchoring, setting an energetic and inspiring tone for the day.

Distinguished leaders from various public sector banks delivered powerful addresses. Comrade TAP Paul, President, SBIOA North East Circle, along with Comrade Rishiraj Das (General Secretary, UCO Bank), Comrade Rupam Bhagawaty (Canara Bank), and Comrade Dhruva Bhattacharjee (Central Bank), emphasised the values of solidarity, equality, and continued commitment to the rights of the workforce. Their words ignited a renewed sense of purpose and resolve among attendees, underlining the ongoing struggle for justice and equitable rights for all workers. The presence and active participation of the banking fraternity were heartily acknowledged, with updates shared on the ongoing negotiations with the government regarding pending demands.

Adding a vibrant touch to the occasion, 32 employees from the SBIOA School, Guwahati, participated in the programme, infusing it with youthful enthusiasm and massive energy. The entire school staff was honoured by senior AIBOC comrades for their unwavering dedication and service to the institution.
