Guwahati: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Assam’s law enforcement apparatus continues to deliver measurable improvements in ensuring justice and public safety. Latest data from January to June 2025 reflects a sharp rise in key performance indicators across the state’s policing system.
Charge sheet filing rate has surged to an impressive 78.53%, a remarkable jump from just 34.3% in 2022 and 66.71% in 2024. This points to a more efficient investigation process and faster movement of cases toward the judicial system.
Conviction rates have also shown consistent progress. Currently standing at 26.22%, this figure represents a significant improvement from 5.5% in 2020 and 22.95% in 2024. The steady rise indicates stronger case presentation and legal follow-through by the police and prosecution teams.
In the fight against property crimes, the police recovered 485 stolen vehicles during the first half of the year, with 70 traced and returned in June alone. Similarly, efforts to curb mobile theft have yielded positive results, with 5,623 devices traced and 4,218 of them already returned to their rightful owners.
