Guwahati: The Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) is set to inaugurate a new mini Interstate Bus Terminal (ISBT) in Khanapara on January 1, 2025. The facility aims to enhance the travel experience for passengers with its modern amenities and strategic location.

Speaking about the initiative, a senior ASTC official stated, “The terminal is designed to provide passengers with a comfortable travel experience and will have modern facilities, including a waiting room, washrooms, food stalls, and a dedicated area for lactating mothers.” In addition to serving regular bus services, the new terminal will also cater to night buses, ensuring convenience for travellers during late hours. The facility includes a guest house for those requiring overnight accommodation, making it a comprehensive solution for both local and interstate travelers. Situated in Khanapara, a key transit point for travellers entering and leaving Guwahati, the mini ISBT is expected to reduce congestion at the main ISBT in Betkuchi. The move is part of ASTC’s broader efforts to improve public transport infrastructure in Assam and provide hassle-free travel options. The inauguration ceremony is expected to draw officials, stakeholders, and commuters eager to witness this addition to the city’s transportation network.
