Guwahati: To encourage responsible waste management, the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has initiated a citywide awareness campaign on waste segregation. As part of this effort, GMC teams distributed informational leaflets to residents, stressing the importance of separating biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste to ensure a cleaner and healthier environment.

“Segregating waste at the source is a small step that can make a big difference in maintaining cleanliness and protecting the environment,” said a GMC spokesperson. Officials also emphasized that proper waste segregation helps reduce pollution, boosts recycling efforts, and contributes to a sustainable future.

Citizens have been urged to adopt waste segregation practices and collaborate with sanitation workers to improve waste collection efficiency. This initiative aligns with GMC’s broader mission to strengthen the city’s waste management system and promote eco-friendly habits among residents.
