Guwahati: Border Security Force organizes Civic Action Programme in City

GUWAHATI: The Border Security Force (BSF), besides securing the Indo-Bangladesh International Border, actively contributes to the welfare of border communities through various developmental initiatives under Civic Action Programmes.

As part of this initiative, 14 Bn BSF, under Guwahati Frontier, organized a Civic Action Programme cum Volleyball Match at BOP Sankosh. The event was inaugurated by Kaushalesh Rai, Commandant, 14 Bn BSF, in the presence of BSF officers, Village Pradhan, and members of Char Balabhut, along with approximately 200 villagers and other prominent personalities from surrounding villages. A spirited volleyball match was conducted between Ward No. 250 and Ward No. 251 of village Char Balabhut. To encourage sports and fitness among the youth, sports items such as chessboards, volleyballs, handballs, footballs, and football nets were distributed to the young.

Similarly, 157 Bn BSF organized another Civic Action Programme cum Football Match at Gadopota Primary School on the Indo-Bangladesh Border. The match featured teams from Uttar Rajjarbari Yuva Sangha and Gadopota Yuva Sangha. The programme was inaugurated by Sh. Abdar Rahman, the oldest resident of Village Gadopota, in the presence of Sh. Randhir Ranjan, Commandant, 157 Bn BSF, BSF officers, Sh. Senar Ali, Up-Pradhan, Sitalkuchi Gram Panchayat, Fajila Bibi, Member, Gadopota Gram Panchayat, and around 300 villagers and other dignitaries from surrounding villages. Adding to the festive atmosphere, a cultural programme was presented by villagers, highlighting the rich traditions of the border community.

Recognizing the needs of border residents, BSF Guwahati Frontier regularly organizes such initiatives to support and foster a sense of security among the border populace. BSF remains committed to ensuring national security and extending support to border communities, upholding its core principles and ethos, stated a press release.
