SHILLONG: Border Security Force (BSF) apprehended an Indian national near Indo-Bangladesh border in the East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya, along with a considerable amount of foreign currency. The operation was carried out on January 15 after specific intelligence inputs about suspicious activities in the area.
BSF jawans had arrested one individual with 3,66,850 Bangladeshi Taka (BDT) and ₹1,15,510 in Indian currency during this operation. This amount recovered is a part of BSF's endeavour to make the international border free from any type of illegal activities and deter any illegal cross-border activity.
Earlier in the week, the BSF in Meghalaya also arrested four Bangladeshi nationals along with three Indian touts in the same district, and the force's commitment to border security is thereby underscored by such operations. The current operations show that BSF stands at the forefront in respect of proactivity in preventing cross-border crimes and making the Indo-Bangladesh border safer.
The BSF reaffirmed its commitment to the protection of the region and appealed for more vigilance from the local communities, which will help identify and report suspicious activities. The operations thus far have indicated that security forces and the public need to collaborate to keep the border region peaceful and secure.
