Guwahati: A significant car theft racket involving stolen vehicles from Assam and their sale in Manipur has been uncovered by the Dispur police. The gang, led by Rustam Ali, Inamul Ali, and Ali Akbar from Assam, targeted luxury vehicles, including Boleros, in the Christian Basti area of Dispur. The stolen vehicles were sold at a fraction of their market value to three youths from Manipur: Ratan Singh, Rishikesh Singh, and Lanjung Po Golam. This racket fueled a theft car market in the region, with the police discovering a widespread theft and sale operation involving both states. The police managed to trap the gang through coordinated efforts, leading to the arrest of several individuals and the disruption of the racket.
