Guwahati: In celebration of the 5th Deshbhakti Divas, the Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), Assam, successfully organized a grand Deshbhakti Quiz Competition on Sunday at the Srimanta Sankaradeva International Auditorium. The event witnessed participation from 348 teams out of 650 registered teams, with contestants not only from Assam but also from states like Kerala and Delhi, lending the quiz a national stature.

Renowned quizmaster Achinta Sharma conducted the competition in two phases—a preliminary written round of 32 questions and a final round. Six teams—Across the College Gate, Oo Aa Ka Kha, Saare Jahan Se Accha, Ghadar Party, The Three Body Problem, and DAB—qualified for the finals. The Three-Body Problem emerged as the winner, while Saare Jahan Se Accha and Ghadar Party secured the second and third positions, respectively.

The winners will receive their prizes tomorrow during the state-level Deshbhakti Divas celebrations, with the first, second, and third prizes carrying cash awards of Rs 1 lakh, Rs 75,000, and Rs 50,000, respectively. The remaining three finalist teams will also receive prize money.

A highlight of the event was the participation of members from three generations in the same team, reflecting unity and shared patriotism.

The programme began with Commissioner & Secretary of Information, Public Relations, Printing & Stationery Kumar Padmapani Bora paying tribute to Deshbhakta Tarun Ram Phukoon. Minister Pijush Hazarika, who graced the occasion, commended DIPR officials for organizing the event and lauded the participation of teams from outside Assam.
