GUWAHATI: The Career Counselling and Placement Cell of Dispur College organized a 'Mega Job Fair - 2025 on February 1 at the Pratima Barua Pandey Auditorium, Dispur College.

The event organized in association with Nipuna Human Development Society, Telangana, and in collaboration with NEDFi, Guwahati, began with a ceremonial inauguration with the lighting of the lamp. Ensuring this was the welcome address by Dr. Navajyoti Borah-Principal, Dispur College-in which he highlighted the huge untapped potential of the youth of the northeastern region and the impactful contribution that they can make in the national development context if such potential is harnessed through meaningful engagement and necessary employment. He also emphasized the commitment of the institution to transform itself into a platform of employment facilitation for the students of the college in particular as well as for the community in general through the conduct of such job fairs in the future. His address was followed by the keynote speech from S. Hussain-the Deputy General Manager of NEDFi, Guwahati. Md. Hussain expressed deep appreciation to the career cell of the college for the well-coordinated event as well as his strong affirmation of the spirit of the college operating continuously to become an employment-facilitating hub in the region, thereby benefitting the community and the region. He also confirmed the support of NEDFi in such future endeavours of the institution.

Dr. Sanjib Kumar Sarma-the convener of the Career Counselling and Placement Cell, Dispur College-declared the commencement of the recruitment process. The event witnessed the vibrant participation of recruiters from MNCs and corporate houses pan-India, like Reliance Jio, Paytm Services Pvt. Ltd., L&T Finance Ltd., MRF, Canara HSBC Life Insurance, etc., offering a diverse bucket of jobs across segments that was able to attract a strong footfall of over 200 candidates aspiring to become a part of the Indian workforce. T. Choudhury, Assistant Director, District Employment Exchange, played a remarkable role in synchronising the process by serving as a bridge between the administration, academia, and industry interfaces.

The event brought smiles to the faces of a lot of youth who opened their service innings through this employment extravaganza.
