GUWAHATI: A street play titled, “Andhabisakhor Boli” was organized on Tuesday by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Dispur College under the guidance of Principal, Dr. Navajyoti Borah and the coordination of Dr. Mamani Kalita, Coordinator, IQAC.
Inaugurating the programme, Principal, Dr. Borah said that superstitious beliefs are a major hindrance to society’s well being and advised students to develop a scientific temperament and work towards rooting out inhumane social practices based on superstition.
The play organized to commemorate the death anniversary of Padmashree Birubala Rabha as “Day Against Superstitious Beliefs” as per the direction of the Directorate of Higher Education, Government of Assam was scripted and directed by Rishav Borah, a sixth semester student of the Department of Education, Dispur College. Students of the college-Yana Sharma, Ankur Kalita , Hridoydip Mahanta, Puranjay Kalita, Pahi Devi, Juri Das—performed in the play aimed at creating awareness in the society regarding a major social evil, witch hunting.
