
GUWAHATI: The Dispur College Dramatic Society successfully staged Rupkonwar Jyotiprasad Agarwalla’s renowned play “Karengar Ligiri” at the first bilingual drama festival organized by the Hojai branch of the Axom Natyo Sanmilan, Hojai.
“Karengar Ligiri,” a classic play that has completed almost 100 years, was performed for the third time by the Dispur College Dramatic Society, with the previous two performances taking place at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra, Guwahati. The play was directed by Manik Ahmed, and the group was headed by faculty members Pallabi Kashyap and Rashmi Barman from the Department of BBA.
During the event, notable personalities from Assam, including Hem Baruah, Naren Borah, Beena Borkotoky, Guru Prasad Borthakur, and Ratan Kalita, were felicitated. Renowned actress Mamoni Kaur was awarded the “Natyo Silpi Bokul Borah Memorial Award.” The director and actors of the play were provided with certificates of appreciation and mementos.
