Guwahati: A fire broke out on Tuesday morning at a commercial building located in front of Anuradha Cinema Hall, prompting a swift and coordinated response from the city’s Fire and Emergency Services Stations (F&ESS).

According to F&ESS officials, the fire call was received at 9:57 am. The first fire tender was dispatched within a minute and reached the spot by 10:03 am. Given the intensity of the flames and dense smoke, additional support was called in from Chandmari and Guwahati F&ESS units. A second team reached the site by 10:10 am.

The fire reportedly originated in a room on the first floor of the G+2 building owned by Chinmoy Sarma. Firefighters managed to control the blaze using water from the fire tenders. The cause of the fire was traced to an electrical short circuit.

No civilian casualties were reported. However, one firefighter sustained minor injuries from broken glass during a forced entry to ventilate a smoke-filled room. Both fire tenders concluded operations and returned to their respective stations by 11:10 am.
