GUWAHATI: A food safety surveillance drive was conducted at Fancy Bazar in Guwahati, covering around 75–80 vendors as part of efforts to ensure compliance with food safety norms. During the drive, officials identified around 10 kg of garlic reportedly of Chinese origin. Vendors were also sensitised to the need to comply with food safety regulations and maintain proper records of the sources of food products. The surveillance aimed to strengthen the monitoring of food items being sold in the busy commercial hub and ensure that vendors adhere to prescribed food safety standards.
