Guwahati: The Assam State Zoo cum Botanical Garden has welcomed four healthy Asiatic lion cubs, born to lioness Kesari.
Announcing the news on World Lion Day, Forest Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary said both the mother and cubs are healthy and under close observation. “Asiatic lions are native to India, with their last surviving wild population found in Gujarat. Sharing this on World Lion Day makes it even more special,” he said.
Zoo officials informed that the mother and cubs will remain in a protected enclosure for the coming weeks to ensure their safety. The birth is expected to raise awareness and strengthen conservation efforts for the endangered species.
