Guwahati: In a major step towards sustainability and environmental awareness, the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) Assam and Akshar Foundation to launch the Swachh Schools, Swachh Shehar campaign.
Under this initiative, students will play an active role in transforming their schools into green schools by bringing clean household plastic waste for recycling. In return, they will earn marks and contribute to creating a cleaner, greener environment as Eco Warriors. At the Akshar Forum Workshop, the collected plastic waste will be creatively repurposed into flowerpots, key rings, pet bowls, and other useful items—turning waste into valuable resources. This initiative aims to instil a sense of responsibility and sustainability among young minds, empowering them to lead the way in environmental conservation while promoting a cleaner city.
