Guwahati: In a disturbing incident, a minor girl from Guwahati has accused her father's friend of repeated sexual abuse, a revelation that emerged during a police investigation into a separate domestic violence complaint lodged by her stepmother. The case was registered under Suo Moto Case No. 59/25 at the All Women Police Station in Panbazar. According to police, the girl's stepmother had filed a complaint accusing her husband of physical abuse. During the inquiry, the girl-visibly distressed-broke down and revealed that her father's friend, identified as Ajay Binash Agarwal alias Srilal Binash, had been sexually abusing her over a prolonged period.

Ajay, a resident of Kolkata and the father's friend, was reportedly a frequent visitor to the family's home in the Kamakhya area. He would allegedly take advantage of moments when no other family members were around. He allegedly assaulted the girl multiple times. Her unexpected confession shocked the investigating officers, who immediately initiated action based on her statement. A team was sent to Kolkata, where Ajay was located and taken into custody. He has since been brought back to Guwahati for further interrogation.

In connection with the domestic violence complaint, the girl's father has also been arrested. Both men are currently in police custody. The mother of the victim has been served a notice under Section 21(1) of the Act. Authorities stated that despite being aware of the alleged offence, the mother neither lodged a formal complaint nor cooperated with the investigation. Officials revealed that the mother refused to file an FIR against the accused, identified as Ajay, and was reportedly unwilling to acknowledge the facts of the case.
