GUWAHATI: A massive blockage on Kalapahar Bye-Lane has sparked widespread outrage among residents, who are demanding immediate action to clear the road. The lane, a vital thoroughfare for local commuters, has been reduced to a mere 20% of its original width due to the dumping of construction materials by contractors.
The blockage, which occurred during peak traffic hours, has caused severe congestion and chaos, leaving residents frustrated and angry. "It's disgusting how the authorities have neglected public accessibility," said a commuter. "This is pure negligence and a clear lack of planning."
An official from the Public Works Department (PWD) acknowledged the issue but downplayed its significance, stating that the blockage was temporary and necessary for the development of the road. However, residents argue that such developmental activities should be carried out with proper planning to minimize disruption.
"This is not the first time we've faced such issues," said a resident. "The authorities should inform and involve the public before beginning such projects. A little planning could avoid this chaos."
Residents are now demanding immediate measures to clear the road and ensure that future construction activities are carried out in a more organized manner.
