GUWAHATI: Guwahati: Maulana Badruddin Ajmal has been re-elected as the president of the Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, Assam, for the fourth consecutive term. The decision was made during the organisation’s state-level meeting held at Garigaon in Guwahati today. With this re-election, Ajmal will continue to lead the Assam unit of the Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind until 2027.

The meeting, attended by senior clerics, scholars, and members from various districts, reviewed the organisation’s activities over the past three years. Participants appreciated Ajmal’s leadership, noting his efforts in maintaining unity among members, promoting religious education, and advocating for social harmony across communities.

In his address after the re-election, Ajmal expressed gratitude to the delegates for their continuous trust and support. He emphasised that the Jamiat would continue its work for the welfare of all citizens, particularly those in marginalised and underprivileged sections of society. He also called upon members to strengthen the organisation’s educational and humanitarian initiatives in Assam.

Established as one of India’s oldest socio-religious bodies, the Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind has played a significant role in community service, interfaith understanding, and disaster relief. Under Ajmal’s leadership, the Assam unit has expanded its outreach programmes, providing scholarships, health camps, and legal aid to those in need.

The session concluded with a renewed pledge to uphold peace, inclusivity, and cooperation in the state while advancing the values of justice and compassion that the Jamiat stands for.
