Guwahati: Mayor inspects flood-hit areas, orders expedited drainage work

Guwahati: Guwahati Mayor Mrigen Sarania, accompanied by MIC Member Ashim Saikia and senior GMC officials, on Thursday inspected flood-affected localities at Anil Nagar and Dispur Last Gate near the Clock Tower.

The team assessed waterlogging, infrastructure damage, and the hardships faced by residents, while reviewing ongoing relief operations and dewatering measures. The Mayor instructed officials to speed up drainage work to minimise public inconvenience and called for close inter-departmental coordination for effective flood mitigation. Sarania assured residents of both immediate relief measures and long-term drainage solutions to address the city’s recurring flood problem.
