Guwahati: Mob lynching in Panbazar; one killed, nine arrested

GUWAHATI: On Friday morning a horrific mob lynching incident took place in the city’s Panbazar area. According to police, a violent group attacked two individuals in the morning, leaving one dead and another seriously injured.

The deceased has been identified as Tilak Das, who succumbed to his injuries on the spot. The other victim, Dipankar Hazarika, sustained serious injuries and is currently undergoing treatment.

Panbazar police have so far arrested nine individuals in connection with the incident, while two others remain at large. The arrested individuals have been identified as Jitumoni Kalita, Abdul Khalek, Soriful Ahmed, Mijaju Haque, Hirok Medhi, Samarjyoti Sarma, Dhruba Pathak, and Goutam Lahakar. Eight of the accused have been remanded to judicial custody, while one more suspect, identified as Amarjyoti Medhi was arrested on Saturday.
