GUWAHATI: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has levied a fine of Rs 40,000 on an apartment complex for illegally discharging boring waste materials into a public drain and obstructing a pedestrian footpath.
According to GMC officials, the incident not only disrupted the city’s drainage system but also created hazards for pedestrians. The civic body emphasized that such violations compromise both public safety and essential infrastructure.
“We urge residents and housing complexes to strictly adhere to waste disposal norms. Irresponsible acts like these harm our infrastructure and endanger public safety,” the GMC stated, appealing for cooperation from citizens to keep Guwahati clean, safe, and liveable.”
