Guwahati: NDRF Rescues Youth from Drowning in River Brahmaputra

GUWAHATI: The 1st Battalion of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), deployed at IWT Uzanbazar, Guwahati, saved a young man from drowning in the River Brahmaputra.

On Thursday morning, sentries of NDRF Team, while on duty at the Terminal Point Location (TPL) of IWT Uzanbazar, heard cries for help coming from the middle of the river. On directing their searchlights, they noticed a person struggling in the heavy current, drifting toward Umananda Island.

Without wasting a moment, Inspector Lal Ringsan and his team launched a rescue operation and successfully brought the individual to safety. The rescued person was given immediate pre-hospital care on site.

The individual was identified as Hazarat Ali, approximately 23 years old, son of Surbhat Ali, and a resident of Mangaldoi in Darrang district. The Latasil Police Station was informed, and the youth was handed over to the police for further necessary action.
