Guwahati: The Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB), Division-II, has issued a notification clarifying that there is no immediate plan to introduce OMR (Optical Mark Recognition) answer sheets in the Higher Secondary (HS) final examinations of 2026.

Responding to increasing queries from stakeholders regarding the possible use of OMR answer sheets, the Board stated that while it remains committed to enhancing competency-based learning and assessments, there will be no implementation of OMR sheets in the said examinations. The Board reaffirmed its dedication to improving learning outcomes through competency-based methods, despite not adopting OMR-based evaluations for the 2026 session. The issued notification was circulated to Inspectors of Schools, principals of lead colleges, and heads of institutions under ASSEB’s jurisdiction for their information and necessary action.
