GUWAHATI: ‘National Energy Conservation Day’ was observed by Northeast Frontier Railway with a week-long programme that had started on December 8 and concluded on Saturday. The main objective behind organizing the event was to make people aware of the importance of energy and the need for its conservation. A large number of officers and staff have participated in this Energy Conservation Week by taking an active part in different activities throughout N. F. Railway. Counselling of staff on the urgency of energy conservation has been made at various field units.

General Manager NFR, Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, held a discussion with the officials and staff of HQ emphasizing energy conservation practices. During the week, various programmes and activities related to energy conservation, such as leaflet distribution, art & quiz competitions, posters and banner displays, and Nukkad Natak slogans, were organized throughout N. F. Railway to create awareness amongst the staff as well as the common public about the importance of energy conservation.

During this week, public awareness walks with banners and slogans for the prevention of wastage of energy were organised at different locations over N. F. Railway. Posters have been put up at railway premises having good visibility, and leaflets containing energy conservation tips were also distributed among railway staff and the public, stated a press release.
