Guwahati Police Arrests Chain Snatchers, Stolen Jewelry Recovered

The Guwahati police have arrested two suspected chain snatchers and have recovered stolen gold and silver jewelry from local shops.

GUWAHATI: In a prompt response to a recent chain snatching case in Guwahati, the Basistha Police have detained two suspected thieves, Amir Ali and Kishore Medhi, who are believed to be involved in several thefts in the city. The duo was arrested as part of an ongoing probe into a series of chain snatching cases that have been causing concern among residents of the city.

After the arrests, the police also carried out search operations at Jaishankar Jewellery and Arpana Jewellery and seized a huge amount of gold and silver jewelry. The seized items are suspected to be connected with the stolen goods of the chain snatching cases.

As the inquiry went on, the police also arrested two owners of the jewelry stores, Hemanta Anand Rao Yadav and Anish Chetry. They are being interrogated about the origin of the jewelry and their possible role in the chain snatching business.

The police have affirmed their commitment to deal with the problem of theft and ensure public security in Guwahati. The arrest and recovery of stolen goods are seen as a significant step towards slowing down the rising level of crime in the area. Authorities are examining the case to find out if there is any other connection between the suspects and other networks of crime in the region.
