Guwahati: Police nab youth on molestation charge in city

GUWAHATI: Noonmati Police have arrested a notorious youth, Manoj Kalita alias Pinku (40), for allegedly molesting a woman and attempting to rape her on Tuesday night. The accused was apprehended after the victim filed a complaint at the Noonmati Police Station. According to reports, the accused, in an inebriated state, allegedly molested the woman and attempted to rape her. Locals witnessed the incident and informed the police, who rushed to the spot to apprehend the accused.

In a shocking turn of events, the accused attacked the police team, injuring three personnel. However, the police eventually managed to overpower and arrest the accused.

The victim subsequently filed a complaint, and a case (No. 33/25) was registered against the accused. The accused was produced in court and remanded to judicial custody. The police are continuing their investigation into the matter
