Further investigation revealed that the recovered mobile phones had been stolen from various locations across the region.
Singh was reportedly on his way to the Assam-Bangladesh border at the time of his arrest, intending to hand the phones over to associates waiting there.
Police found that this was not an isolated incident. Singh had allegedly been running a smuggling operation for several months, regularly transporting stolen mobile phones to the India-Bangladesh border through Meghalaya.
Legal action has been initiated against him and the case remains under active investigation.
