STAFF REPORTER
Guwahati: In an effort to ensure a free, fair, and transparent recruitment process, the Guwahati Police Commissionerate has issued prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023. The restrictions will be in place on January 19, 2025, the day of the written examinations for Graduate and Post Graduate Teacher recruitment, as well as the Departmental Examination (DPE-2025) of HCs/ASIs for the promotion of Assam Police personnel.
According to the order issued by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Administration) Imdad Ali, unauthorized persons will not be allowed within 100 meters of the examination centres. Only candidates with valid admit cards, examination officials, and designated police personnel will be permitted entry.
The Assam State School Education Board, Division-1 (formerly SEBA), is conducting the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) for graduate and postgraduate teachers across 24 examination centres in Guwahati. The examinations for graduate teachers will take place from 9:00 am to 11:30 am across 14 centres, with 11,447 candidates appearing. The postgraduate teachers will have an examination from 1:30 pm to 4 pm across 10 centres, with 8,486 candidates appearing.
Additionally, the Departmental Examination (DPE-2025) for the promotion of Head Constables (HCs) and Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs) of Assam Police to the rank of Sub-Inspector (UB) will be held in two shifts—Paper I from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and Paper II from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm—at two centres, with 2,375 candidates in each session.
Authorities have taken this step following past incidents of unfair practices and attempts by external elements to interfere in the examination process through social media platforms. The government is determined to prevent any malpractice that could undermine the credibility of the recruitment process.
Violators of the prohibitory order will face legal action under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. Officials have urged candidates and the public to comply with the restrictions to maintain order and fairness in the examinations.
