Guwahati: Snatchers flee with chain, leaving behind pistol & bag

GUWAHATI: In a scuffle between two chain snatchers and a couple – Ringku Talukdar and Dipak Talukdar – the snatchers left the scene with the chain of Rinku Talukdar, leaving behind their pistol and a bag at Jalukbari this morning.

According to the police, the couple went to see off their daughter leaving for Goalpara on a bus. The couple and their daughter went in their car. When their daughter left for Goalpara on a bus, the couple were taking selfies at Jalukbari. Two riders reached the spot and browbeat the couple for taking selfies at the public place. They engaged in an altercation. The rider then asked the pillion rider to take out the pistol and shoot at them. At gunpoint, when the pillion rider made an attempt to snatch the chain from the neck of the lady, her husband got hold of the snatcher, and they were in a scuffle. During the scuffle, the snatcher managed to snatch the chain and flee but dropped his pistol and bag on the ground.

The couple lodged a complaint with Jalukbari Police Station.
