Guwahati: Speeding Dumper Hits Pedestrian, Wrecks Parked Cars On GS Road

A speeding dumper on GS Road left a pedestrian critically injured and wrecked multiple parked cars.

GUWAHATI: A speeding dumper caused a severe road accident late Tuesday night on GS Road, Guwahati, Assam leaving a pedestrian critically injured. The vehicle also crashed into three parked cars, completely wrecking two of them.

According to eyewitnesses, the dumper driver, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, lost control before hitting the pedestrian from behind and dragging him a considerable distance. The victim sustained critical injuries and was rushed to the hospital by police.

The dumper, bearing the registration number AS25CC6856, wreaked havoc when it collided with parked vehicles, leaving a devastation scene.

Upon receiving reports of the accident, Bhangagarh Police swiftly arrived at the scene to take necessary action. Investigations are currently underway, and authorities intend to take strict action against the driver for reckless and negligent driving.

Meanwhile, a tragic accident claimed the lives of two men when their vehicle, an 18-wheeler trailer truck, collided with a roadside mountain at Hollongi.

The accident occurred on NH-415, near Soge Resort, when the truck, belonging to M/S Ganpati Drilling and carrying heavy drilling equipment, lost control on a sharp turn and crashed into the mountain, according to Capital Superintendent of Police (SP) Rohit Rajbir Singh.

The impact of the collision caused the heavy cargo to surge forward, crushing the truck's cabin and fatally trapping the two occupants inside. The deceased have been identified as Ripam Borah (30) from Sibsagar in Assam, who was driving the truck and his helper Mehedi Hasan (24) from Murshidabad in West Bengal.
